Westbourne Neighbourhood Forum at work

Westbourne_forum_logoSince the first meeting of the Forum Committee in January, things have been steadily moving in Westbourne.

  • The Committee has held three meetings so far.
  • An Events Working Group was set up and has been meeting monthly to prepare for Westbourne Summer Festival, to take place on the Canal side on 7 June.
  • A Neighbourhood Planning Working Group was created and has started the critical task of drafting the Neighbourhood Plan to be submitted to public vote sometime in 2016.

In the last couple of months, Westbourne Forum has supported actions to prevent the former Prince of Wales pub to be turned into yet another betting shop. The way through this has been to have the pub registered as a community asset or, failing this, to ensure that the local community has a say in what sort of trade would be conducted in the premises.

Over the coming months the forum will be seeking your views on what changes you would like to see locally and what priorities a neighbourhood plans should address. To get involved please contact the forum’s secretary Lawrence Harrault lharrault@gmail.com
